ScoMo’s health and safety blunder? PM visits factory but can YOU spot what’s wrong with this picture

ScoMo’s factory blunder: Prime Minister visits high-tech work site – but appears to make a mistake the health and safety department would NOT be impressed by

  • Prime Minister Scott Morrison was pictured suited up during a factory visit
  • But he stood out from the crowd, who were all wearing hi-vis vests on the site
  • Cameramen and photographers were present but weren’t exempt from the vests
  • Mr Morrison made a public address about the bushfires in northern NSW

Scott Morrison visited a factory in Bankstown on Wednesday morning and was given his own private tour.

The Prime Minister walked around the Quickstep factory, a manufacturer of carbon fibre used in defence equipment, meeting staff and looking at machinery.

But while his group all donned hi-vis vests he opted for a suit and tie.

During an address at the factory, in Sydney, the Prime Minister expressed his sympathies to families whose homes had been ravaged by bushfires overnight near Casino.

Cameramen and photographers were also present during the visit but they were also forced to wear the hi-vis vests.

A man was photographed showing Mr Morrison machinery around the site, before he made his public address.

Mr Morrison paid tribute to residents whose homes were destroyed by out-of-control bushfires on Tuesday night.

The NSW Rural Fire Service on Wednesday morning said the fire had ruined up to 30 houses.

‘These terrible events are events our emergency services, fire authorities and other authorities train for and prepare for,’ Mr Morrison said.

‘Families and individuals are dealing with the stress of these times and particularly those who have lost so much overnight.

‘Our thoughts are with those who lost a great deal overnight and fortunately there’s been no loss of life which is something to always be thankful for.’

Mr Morrison warned particular areas of NSW still posed ‘serious threats today’.

‘For those communities around Casino, it’s going to be a very tough day but know that Australians are with you,’ he said.

He posted his speech on Twitter which said: ‘Fires continue to burn in NSW & Queensland today & there’s a high fire risk in the NT & WA so please ensure you listen to the advise of emergency services & stay safe.
