Scooter Braun FINALLY addresses the Taylor Swift controversy

After nearly six months of feeling the wrath of Taylor Swift’s hardcore fans, Scooter Braun has responded to all of the controversy and bad blood between the two.

Braun, 38, purchased Swift’s first label, Big Machine Records, giving him the original masters to her first six albums, which she had been trying to buy back for years, leading Swift to call him an ‘incessant, manipulative bully’ in a Tumblr post.

Braun was at the 2019 Entertainment Industry Conference presented by Variety, when he was asked how he ‘wraps his head around’ being portrayed as the villain by so many ‘Swifties,’ and he said that he hasn’t actually gotten a chance to speak with Swift herself, while seemingly calling her out for calling him out on social media.

‘I haven’t talked about this in six months. Not once. I haven’t made a statement about it. When there’s a lot of things being said and a lot of different opinions, yet the principals haven’t had a chance to speak to each other, there’s a lot of confusion,’ he began.

Braun refused to delve into specifics about the spat, stating, ‘it’s just not my style,’ before calling out Swift for airing her grievances on social media.

‘I just think we live in a time of toxic division, and of people thinking that social media is the appropriate place to air out on each other and not have conversations,’ he said.

Braun added that he’s ‘not going to participate,’ seemingly referring to anything on social media, adding, ‘if that means that I’ve got to be the bad guy longer, I’ll be the bad guy longer.’

Despite his apparent distaste for social media, Braun still appeared willing to communicate and have a conversation with Swift.

‘What I’ll say is, people need to communicate, and when people are able to communicate, I think they work things out,’ Braun added.

He added when problems are, ‘discussed behind closed doors,’ they are ‘figured out pretty easily,’ adding that is, ‘something I’ve wanted to do for six months.’

Braun also confirmed a report from TMZ earlier this week that revealed Swift fans were sending in death threats to his offices.

‘When it gets to a place where there’s death threats and there’s offices being called and people being threatened… it’s gotten out of hand,’ Braun said.

‘And I think people need to come together and have a conversation, because that’s not what we got in this industry for,’ he added.

While there has been bad blood between Swift and Braun since he purchased her old label, their contention boiled over when Swift claimed that Braun and Big Machine founder Scott Borchetta was trying to block her from playing any of her songs from the albums Big Machine owns.

Swift called out Braun and Borchetta in a social media post, which lead to the death threats at Braun’s offices, but shortly thereafter, Swift was given permission to sing any song she wanted at the AMAs, where she’s slated to receive the Artist of the Decade Award.
