Fitzgerald, who won a Commonwealth Games gold medal in 2014, was arrested on Tuesday and seemed worse for wear in the video clips he posted on his social media, launching into a foul-mouthed tirade after being released.

The 28-year-old described an incident as ‘a kick off with my ex-partner and her family’.

Scott Fitzgerald took to his public Instagram and launched an expletive-laden rant

‘Enquiries are ongoing.’

He started by appearing to rap: ’24 hours in a cell, that’s some heavy s***. All my life I’ve been getting nicked, robberies and that, how I was getting it. F*** em!

Fitzgerald then mentioned a series of people in his Instagram story.

The British super-welterweight beat domestic rivals Anthony Fowler and Ted Cheeseman in two blockbuster showdowns last year but his burgeoning professional career could now be slowed by disciplinary action if found guilty.

Sportsmail contacted his promoters Matchroom Boxing for comment.
