Scout and Tallulah Willis talk fashion with FEMAIL

They’re the daughters of actors Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, so it’s no surprise Scout and Tallulah Willis are creative types with a style all their own.

FEMAIL caught up with the fashion savvy sisters at the alice + olivia 2018 presentation during New York Fashion Week.

The 20 somethings shared their guilty pleasures, closet organization (or lack there of), best style advice they’ve received from their mother, and more.

Like mother like daughters: They’re the daughters of actors Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, so it’s no surprise Scout and Tallulah Willis are creative types with a style all their own

Scout has an affinity for velvet and sequins. ‘I like to sneak it in,’ she said. ‘I tend to be a Chelsea boots, Levis and a t-shirt kind of gal, but I love wearing those kinds of things [velvet and sequins] casually, just throwing them in.’

For me it’s all about getting dressed for yourself and no one else

While her wardrobe consists of mostly vintage pieces, she enjoys fast fashion retailer Zara . ‘I love it. My favorite thing is the finding, not necessarily the owning. I prefer to buy more little pieces than one big statement.’

She does her own thing and really hasn’t taken advice from her mom, Demi. ‘I’ve always been pretty defiant with my fashion choices. For me it’s all about getting dressed for yourself and no one else.’

Not being influenced by the latest trends or outside influences, the 26-year-old has a healthy approach to dressing. ‘I think the best thing you can possibly do is stay true to you in that moment. One day that might mean a tight little dress and the next a t-shirt and jeans, but pulling it off is about knowing what suits you that day.’

‘I used to be a lot more shy, then one day in high-school I said “f**k it, I’m doing this for myself and what makes me feel good.”

She describes her closet as ‘full and organized chaos’ with a plethora of vintage kimonos and t-shirts. ‘This fall I can’t wait to wear a really amazing Babaton cashmere hoody I got from Artizia.’

Nothing basic: 'My personal style is anything with color and texture,' said Tallulah. 'I have found that when I pull things with those elements, I'm happier, I feel good and it brings me out of any stormy mood

I feel so drawn to bright colors, I feel safe in them

While the 23-year-old appreciates and fancies the sleek and simple silhouettes of high-end designer Helmut Lang, she admits to needing more upbeat pieces at this point in her life, and loves mass market retailer Zara.

‘I feel so drawn to bright colors, she said. ‘I feel safe in them. I’m also mixing shades, patterns and different shapes that I wouldn’t maybe have done before.’

‘My closet is a lot of rolling racks and shoe racks from Bed Bath and Beyond. We’re very into micro-organizing. I have cubbies for different categories; the system probably only makes sense to us,’ she jokes.

While older sister Scout can’t collect enough kimonos, Tallulah has a stockpile of little boy’s crew-neck sweatshirts. ‘I can never not buy them,’ she said. ‘I love finding them in places you would least expect.’

As for the best advice her mother Demi has given her, ‘wear what works on your body at that moment, just be honest and don’t force anything if it’s not working,’ she shared.

Tallulah’s clothing choices reflect and affect her mood, health, and overall confidence. ‘When you feel good, everything doesn’t have to be a big spectacle,’  she said. ‘It could be just finding your own uniform.’
