Search for missing pilot after helicopter crashes Western Australia

Emergency crews are searching for the pilot of a helicopter after it crashed into the ocean off Western Australia’s north coast. 

The helicopter, carrying a pilot and one passenger, crashed about 30 kilometres north of Port Hedland about midnight on Wednesday. 

The passenger was recovered but rescue crews continue to search for the missing pilot. 

An Australian Maritime Safety Authority spokesman said the helicopter was en-route to a ship to collect a marine pilot when it crashed. 

The helicopter was an EC-135 model, the ABC reported.
