Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke is OUT in the latest shakeup of the Trump administration

  • Zinke will leave the administration by the end of the year, Trump said Saturday
  • His replacement as interior secretary will be announced sometime next week
  • Zinke is facing investigations into his travel and potential conflicts of interest
  • It is the third departure from Trump’s cabinet since the November midterms

Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke will be leaving the administration by the end of the year, President Donald Trump has confirmed.

Trump confirmed the latest shakeup in his cabinet in a tweet on Saturday, saying that Zinke’s replacement would be named sometime next week.

Zinke is facing federal investigations into his travel, political activity and potential conflicts of interest.

His departure is just the latest shakeup in Trump’s cabinet, following the removal of Attorney General Jeff Sessions and White House Chief of Staff John Kelly.

Zinke, a former Republican congressman from Montana, is leaving weeks before Democrats take control of the House, a shift in power that promised to intensify probes into his conduct.

Zinke played a leading part in Trump’s efforts to roll back environmental regulations and promote domestic energy development.
