A security guard has been hit in the head by a cricket ball during a game.

The Red Badge security guard was working during the second test between England and New Zealand at Seddon Park in Hamilton.

Kiwi batsman Mitchell Santner hit a six off Jofra Archer’s bowling, and after the ball crossed the boundary rope it hit the security guard in the head.

The man seemed to shrug off the pain but was later removed from his duties.

He had ice applied to his head after leaving the sideline. 

Santner was later caught off Archer’s bowling as New Zealand posted a first innings total of 375.
