A 21-year-old New Jersey woman named Susan Atrach has been charged with 11 felonies for allegedly hacking into the email of singer Selena Gomez, then sharing some of the information she stole from the account.
The Good For You singer’s email was targeted between June 2015 through February 2016, according to prosecutors with the Los Angeles County’s District Attorney’s office, TMZ reported.
Atrach has been charged with accessing and using computer data or taking supporting documentation without permission; five counts of identity theft and five counts of accessing and using computer data to commit fraud or to control or obtain money, property or data, according to the outlet.

According to authorities, Atrach, a native of Ridgefield Park, New Jersey, was illegally able to hack into email accounts – one, an Apple iCloud account and another, a Yahoo account, according to the Los Angeles Times – belonging to Selena and a person close to her. She stole digital property and shared some of the findings with others.
Insiders close to the probe told the newspaper that Atrach had not profited off of the hack, nor did she advertise it to any media outlets.
Atrach used information she’d gathered on the Texas-born beauty, 25, to be able to answer password questions and reset the password in the hack.
Atrach is slated to hear the charges against her by August 27 in Los Angeles; authorites are seeking $250,000 bail on the woman.

If convicted, she could face nine years and eight months years in custody, prosecutors said.
Selena’s been busy this summer working on a new comedy titled The Dead Don’t Die, which features an ensemble cast including Bill Murray, Chloë Sevigny, Steve Buscemi, Tilda Swinton and Adam Driver.
Her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber made headlines earlier this month with his engagement to model Hailey Baldwin.
An insider told E! News that Gomez ‘was surprised to hear the news, like most people,’ as ‘it caught her off guard and wasn’t what she was expecting.’
A second source told the publication that Selena ‘has completely moved on and is putting their relationship in the past.’
