  • The Ivorian right back, and former Spurs man, is available after leaving Villareal
  • Forest have already signed 18 new faces this summer, with more in the pipeline
  • Aurier’s arrival would be handy following an injury to new boy Omar Richards

Serge Aurier is ‘close to finalising his move to Nottingham Forest’, according to a report.

Forest recently confirmed a loan deal for Atletico Madrid full-back Renan Lodi, taking their total number of acquisitions to 18, and still the Midlands club are keen for more signings to increase competition for places.

Former Tottenham right-back Aurier, 29, would become the 19th summer signing for Forest since their promotion to the Premier League.

Serge Aurier’s rumoured move to Nottingham Forest is believed to have taken a step closer

Sky Sports has reported that Aurier’s move to Nottingham Forest is edging closer, with a two-year contract in place for the free agent, following the expiry of his contract at Villareal.

It was previously reported by Sportsmail that he had a medical at the City Ground, and it now seems that this deal is closer to being officially completed.

Aurier would be another option at full back for Forest, who recently lost new signing Omar Richards to injury.

The Ivorian free agent spent just one year with Spanish club Villareal, following his time at Tottenham Hotspur. His contract at Spurs was terminated by mutual consent after four years in London.

Forest are also in advanced talks with Willy Boly, who boycotted Wolves’ match with Newcastle on Sunday in a bid to force a move out of Molineux.

Aurier and Boly would take the number of new players at the City Ground this summer to 20, as Forest try to adjust to life in the top flight for the first time in the 21st century.

Jesse Lingard, Morgan Gibbs-White, Emmanuel Dennis and Neco Williams are among the other new faces at Forest in recent weeks.
