Rose West (pictured)  has reportedly complained her knees are too sore to walk up to second floor cells

Serial killer Rose West has reportedly complained to prison bosses that her sore knees make it difficult for her to walk to her second floor cell.

West, who is serving life in prison for 10 murders, is moved every 28 days due to fears she will dig her way out of jail.

But the 63-year-old moans she finds the cells on the upper landing of high-security HMP Low Newton in County Durham hard to get to.

A former prisoner told The Sun: ‘Rose has really bandy legs that give her constant pain. She’s always moaning about them and really struggles to get up and down the stairs.’

West is not allowed a corner cell because it has two walls and could increase her chances of escaping.

She was jailed for life in 1995 for her involvement in 10 murders, including that of her daughter.

Husband Fred, 53, hanged himself before he could face a trial.

West is currently on F wing at Low Newton and has Restricted Status, the female equivalent of a male Category A prisoner.

Earlier this year she was attacked behind bars by a fellow prisoner who was sick of the killer receiving fan mail.

West was left with a black eye and facial swelling after being pinned down and beaten repeatedly.
