Seth Meyers and wife Alexi Ashe are expecting their second child.

The TV host made the announcement on Thursday during his Thanksgiving episode of Late Night With Seth Meyers with his parents Larry and Hilary and brother Josh as special guests.

‘I want to take this opportunity now, you guys obviously know, my wife and I are expecting a second baby,’ the 43-year-old late-night host said. ‘Very excited. Thank you! Very excited.’

Seth’s mom told the story of when he called her to give her the good news.

‘I get the phone call, and my Seth is sometimes a crier. He’s sobbing,’ she said. ‘He said, “Because for over a month, I’ve had to pretend that I don’t care what sex it is and I do care, I want a little boy!”‘

Seth responded: ‘That’s true, I really wanted a brother for my son because I was so lucky to have one.’

Seth and Alexi are already parents to son Ashe, born in 2016.

The couple married at Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts in September 2013.

In more good news for the TV personality, Seth has been confirmed as host of the2018 Golden Globe Awards.

The Late Night host will helm the prestigious ceremony – which honors excellence in TV and film – at the Beverly Hilton in California on January 7. 

HFPA President Meher Tatna said in a statement: ‘The Hollywood Foreign Press Association is excited to have Seth Meyers host the 75th Annual Golden Globe Awards.

‘With his natural comedic wit and innate ability to charm audiences, Seth will help us carry on the celebratory tradition of recognizing the best in television and film at the Party of the Year.’

The 43-year-old talk show host has previous experience of fronting awards ceremonies, having anchored the ESPYs in 2010 and the Emmys in 2014.

Up until 2009, the Golden Globes were largely conducted without a host, but Ricky Gervais took the reins for three ceremonies between 2010-2012, and was succeeded the following three years by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, before the Extras star returned to the helm in 2016.

This year’s ceremony was hosted by another talk show host, Jimmy Fallon.

According to Variety, Amy and Tina were approached to return to host the awards this year, as were Tiffany Haddish and Ellen DeGeneres but declined offers.

The nominations for this year’s Golden Globe Awards will be announced on 11 December.  

Meyers has been host of Late Night since 2014 and was the head writer on Saturday Night Live 2006 through 2014. 

This will be his first time hosting the Golden Globes.
