Seven people are shot near a Baltimore church

BREAKING NEWS: One person is dead and six are injured in a shooting near a Baltimore church

  • The shooting broke out in Baltimore at about 5.30pm on Sunday
  • Police said one person died but it is not yet clear the extent of the other injuries 
  • Shooting occurred during a cookout near the Perkins Square Baptist Church
  • It is not yet clear if the shooting was connected to the church 

Seven people have been shot during a cookout close to a Maryland church.

The shooting occurred near the Perkins Square Baptist Church in Baltimore at about 5.30pm on Sunday.

Police said one person had died but it is not yet clear the extent of the other injuries, CBS reports.   

First responders found the victims on the 2500 block of Edmondson Avenue outside Buster’s Place Barber Shop.  

Police have closed down the block surrounding the barber shop and the church. 

It is not clear if the shooting was connected to the church.
