Seven tiny kittens are looking for a new home after they were found cruelly dumped on a busy street inside a sealed Amazon Prime box.
The three-week-old kittens were discovered abandoned on a pavement in Belgravia, one of the most exclusive and affluent districts of London, at 7pm on Thursday.
A member of the public rushed them from leafy Cadogan Place to the Blue Cross in nearby Victoria before they were taken to a vets to be checked over.
Fortunately, they were all in good health and have now been named after the Seven Dwarfs – Happy, Grumpy, Doc, Sleepy, Bashful, Sneezy and Dopey.
The tiny kittens were dumped by a callous individual who effectively left them for dead
Because they are so young and should still be with their mother, the animal charity’s team will hand-rear the kittens and give them around-the-clock care.
Amanda Marrington, Welfare Officer at Blue Cross in Victoria said: ‘These little kittens were found all alone and were extremely vulnerable.
‘Thankfully now with us, our dedicated team will be spending the bank holiday weekend hand feeding the tiny tots and when they are old enough we will find each of them a loving home.
‘We would always encourage anyone struggling with animal care to come to us for advice and help rather than resort to leaving vulnerable pets, like these, out on the street.’
The sleepy little furballs are not old enough to have left their mother but are being cared for
The kittens will be transferred to the Blue Cross animal rehoming centre in Suffolk where they will be kept in a special kitten unit or placed in foster care.
Kittens are usually weaned off their mother’s milk between six and eight weeks old so the charity will continue to hand feed and give them the best care until they are old enough to look after themselves.
Incredibly someone dumped these kittens and their mother is not with them
The kittens were found dumped in a neighbourhood which has been popular with many celebrities who have lived there over the years.
Joan Collins, Sir Michael Caine, Sir Lawrence Olivier, Christopher Lee, Vivien Leigh, Sarah Brightman, Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber and Elizabeth Hurley plus James Bond actors Sean Connery and Roger Moore have all lived there, as did writer Ian Fleming.
