Police believe a severely autistic boy missing since Saturday evening is travelling north with his biological mother.

Jacob Lavender, 11, was last seen in the backyard of a home on Sedgeman Crescent, in the western Sydney suburb of Shalvey.

Police said a search of the area around the home was unsuccessful, and they hold concerns for Jacob’s welfare due to his severe autism.

Jacob and his mother Tracey Lavender may be travelling north to Queensland in a blue sedan.

His mother was at the centre of a scandal involving her teenage son Jayden, 14, who fled from a Sydney hospital with his three-day old baby earlier this year.

Jayden and his girlfriend Jenifer Morrison, 15, attracted national headlines after spending the night with the newborn in a tent bought from Kmart.

‘She’s back in the hospital and they haven’t let us visit,’ Ms Lavender told Daily Mail Australia at the time.

The vehicle is a 2006 Hyundai Elantra with New South Wales registration plates ANO2YL.

Police are urging members of the public to call Triple Zero (000) if the boy and his mother are sighted.
