A registered sex offender with very distinctive head and face tattoos swallowed a bag of meth and almost slammed into a patrol car after officers tried to pull him over for a traffic stop.

Darrell Bailey, 43, failed to stop for cops, crashed into a fence and then swallowed a bag of meth while trying to elude authorities, said Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

Bailey had a warrant out for his arrest for failing to register as a sex offender on two separate counts when the officers tried to pull him over for a traffic stop in his Dodge Ram truck in Mulberry, Florida on January 29.

The suspect allegedly did a U-turn and drove away from officers who pursued him and attempted a precision immobilization technique maneuver on his vehicle to get him to stop.

Bailey then almost hit a patrol car before he came to a halt when he crashed through a fence and into a shed, the sheriff’s office said.

According to the police report, the suspect admitted fleeing from officers because he knew he had warrants out for his arrest and because he had methamphetamine on him.

He told officers he swallowed the bag of meth so it wouldn’t be found.

Bailey also said he was ‘just trying to dodge’ the patrol car that he nearly hit, Brian Bruchey, the police department’s public information officer, told Newsweek.

He was found in possession of Alprazolam and drug paraphernalia.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said that it was an ‘epic fail’ for Bailey.

‘This was an epic fail for this guy. He had a warrant for failing to register as a sex offender, he failed to stop for deputies, he failed at getting away – he made a lot of choices today, but failed several times with those choices. We’re extremely grateful though, that he failed to hit our deputy with his truck,’ he said.

Bailey was taken to Polk County Jail and charged with a series of felons including aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, fleeing to elude a law enforcement officer, tampering with evidence, criminal mischief over $1,000, possession of methamphetamine, possession of Alprazolam, break/injure fence, possession of drug paraphernalia, and knowingly driving while license suspended/revoked.

Bailey has a long list of prior 15 felony charges and eight misdemeanors including sexual offense against a child, robbery, burglary, grand theft motor vehicle and violation of probation, according to police.
