Shane and Lee Watson SLAM ‘lazy’ parenting

They’re one of Australia’s most famous sporting power couples.

So it’s no surprise Shane Watson and his wife Lee (nee Furlong) like to keep their two young children active.

In an interview with Stellar on Sunday, the former cricket ace and the sports journalist railed against ‘lazy’ parenting that involves an over reliance on technology to keep kids amused.

Shane and Lee, who have been married since 2010, share two children, four-year-old Will, and two-year-old Matilda.

And the Sydney-based stars have made parenting a top priority, meaning that there’s been a concerted effort to keep their offspring from being glued to their iPads.

Former Fox Sports presenter Lee told Stellar: ‘Every day we’re at the park [or] the beach having a good time.’

Shane echoed his blonde wife’s sentiments, stating: ‘It was about getting them out of the house, [which was] very challenging. You can really fall into a lazy way of parenting where you go, ‘Oh, well, I’ll just sit on the couch and watch what I want and give the kids an iPad.”

Now the powerful pair are planning to monetise their passion for keeping young people fit and healthy.

Shane has started Let’s Activate, a program that requires children to get moving through sport and dance.

And Lee has used her skill with the written word to pen a children’s book, titled Nothing Happens Outside.

The story revolves around two young siblings- loosely based on Will and Matilda- whose phone falls into a toilet, requiring them to head out of the house in order to occupy their imaginations.
