Shane Warne terrorised England in his glittering playing career – but now the Australian cricket great has declared he wants to coach the old enemy.

The leg-spin legend, 52, said it ‘would be a great time’ to coach Australia’s long term rivals and he was ‘confident of doing a pretty good job’.

Warne watched England capitulate 4-0 in the Ashes series and identified areas he could quickly improve to avoid a repeat result.

‘England had plenty of opportunities through the Ashes, but in the big moments they couldn’t nail it with bat or ball,’ he told the Sky Sports Cricket podcast.

‘That first Test at Brisbane (in December) – the whole series could have been different if they just looked down at the pitch rather than planning about day/night Tests in Adelaide and who was going to play in that game.

‘It had rained for three weeks in Brisbane. It was green and seaming all over the place and you have the best seam bowler in the world in Jimmy Anderson, and they’re resting him for the pink-ball game. They didn’t do themselves any favours.’

The Australian cricket great, who snared 708 Test wickets – including the ‘Ball of the Century’ to a stunned Mike Gatting in 1993 – never captained Australia but has one of the sharpest minds in the sport.

Warne believes England needs to go back to basics and the onus is on key players such as Joe Root and Jofra Archer to perform on all wickets around the world.

He said dumped Australian coach Justin Langer would be another option for England to consider.

‘Cricket Australia were disgraceful in the way they handled JL,’ he said.

‘Winning an Ashes series and a (T20) World Cup, it doesn’t get much bigger than that. But [Langer] was a dead man walking.

‘When I didn’t hear the captain or any other players sticking up for him, saying he was fantastic, I found that really disappointing.

‘Why couldn’t Cricket Australia come out and say they were not renewing his contract straight away but would wait until the end of the summer, see who the best candidate is, and if Langer is still the best candidate give him a contract?

‘If I were England I’d be jumping at him.’

Warne is equally infamous for his off-field antics spanning across three decades.

Last August, a close friend of the father-of-three confirmed Warne is an avid user of dating app Tinder, as the Spin King ‘doesn’t like to sleep alone.’

Former Triple M radio host Lawrence ‘Moonman’ Mooney said Warne’s appetite for the ladies was a constant source of amusement for his inner circle.

‘His life is Tinder, beers, darts, gambling and cricket. Those five things, that’s it,’ he said.

‘He doesn’t want to go to bed alone. And he’s had more (women) than we’ve had hot dinners!’

Warne had numerous sexting scandals throughout his sporting career dating back to 2000.

Many of these incidents took place during his marriage to former model Simone Callahan, whom he divorced in 2005.

Following the end of his engagement to actress Elizabeth Hurley in 2013, Warne resumed his ‘thirsty’ habit of sending raunchy texts to women.

In 2015, he matched on Tinder with a single mother named Kim McGrath.

Kim later told Woman’s Day of their encounter: ‘He was definitely in charge. He asked me to keep [my high heels] on while he spanked me.’

The following year, he reportedly enjoyed a tryst with 24-year-old Simone Toon after they met on a sugar daddy website.

‘He couldn’t keep his hands off me. I barely had a foot in the door before he was trying to pounce on me,’ Ms Toon told The Sun at the time.

‘I kept him at bay for about 10 minutes but then gave up. He was all over me and stripped me naked.’

Warne was also busted trying to arrange a ‘naughty nightcap’ with Melbourne socialite Brynne Edelsten via text a few years ago.

‘Excited for me to devour you?’ he asked in one of their leaked messages.
