The 49-year-old claims that his $2 million fee was what Channel Ten had spent on the entire casting budget for the show’s first season.

On top of his massive payday, Warnie’s manager was also able to negotiate the star a few extras not usually afforded to other cast members.

‘One was smoking,’ Warnie wrote. ‘I could smoke but had to follow the process of being about a hundred yards from the camp with a security guard accompanying me.’

He continued: ‘The next was my hair. It has to be redone by Advanced Hair every three weeks, so the company flew out to the bush midway through the filming of the program.

‘It was a simple enough strand-by-strand process to the crown of my head and took no more than 45 minutes.’

The former cricketer explained that producers drove him to a house near the camp while the rest of the cast were asleep so he could meet with the Advanced Hair stylist.

‘I was back by 6.30am and, at exactly the time everyone else was getting up, I wandered into camp as if I’d just been to the dunny,’ he boasted.

Warnie’s been an ambassador for Advanced Hair since 2007 and credits the company for saving him from baldness.
