The 57-year-old artist recalled a dinner she had with Oprah Winfrey, which went ‘sour’ after they started talking about religion.

Shania Twain’s latest single Waking Up Dreaming was released earlier this month. And during her promotional tour for the song, the country singer sat down for a podcast interview on Table Manners with Jessie and Lennie Ware.

The Man! I Feel Like A Woman artist explained the awkward dinner with Oprah, 68, during her podcast interview.

‘I think one of my most memorable dinners was with Oprah Winfrey,’ adding that they ate at a restaurant.

Shania said: ‘It was great to just and have real talks, but as soon started talking about religion, it all went sour. So, I said, “Let’s stop talking about religion,”‘ adding Oprah ‘is quite religious.’

The country singer called Oprah ‘a smart lady.’

She clarified her position on the topic, noting that she’s ‘not religious in the sense that I’m dedicated to a religion. I’m much more of a spiritual person. I would say I’m a seeker.’

Shania, who was born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, she likes to debate things: ‘There was no room for debate, and I like to debate. Canadians like to debate everything. So, I’m like, “Oh, OK. It’s time to change the subject.’

She said that at the time of the dinner, the star was open to having a conversation about their religious differences  but said ‘it just wasn’t debatable,’ and didn’t elaborate.

During the podcast, the star repeated the phrase: ‘Everyone always says, “Never talk  about politics or religion.’
