Shannon Harris creates look with pharmacy and luxury high-end make-up

If you’ve ever been into a cosmetic store hoping to purchase just one thing, you’ll know how easy it is to walk away with far more than you bargained for.

But are you really making a difference to the makeup look you’re creating by spending thousands?

New Zealand-based Youtuber Shannon Harris shared an almost identical look on her social media channel; one which was made entirely with a drug store brand for $140 and another with high-end labels for $1,064.

So can you tell which one is which?

Of the expensive brands, Miss Harris said most customers were spending their money on the luxe packaging and weighty feel of the item.

While they have an aesthetic exterior, she said you can find ‘dupes’ or copies for most of the expensive primers, foundations and concealers.

With the products she had on hand Miss Harris created a bronzed and ‘glowy’ peach look with a fierce lined eye and huge false eyelashes.

She used a Guerlain primer, Tom ford foundation, YSL concealer and Hourglass setting powder

The colours were extremely pigmented, given they had such a grandiose price point, and that was the main difference between both looks.

The 25-year-old then replicated a similar look with far cheaper products, this time just using the drug store brand CoverGirl.

Nothing from the 11 items she chose to apply was over $21.

The palettes had a very ‘blendable texture’ but did have some ‘fall out’ – which happens when the pigments of the product scatter onto your face – so Miss Harris recommended doing your eye look before putting foundation on.

‘These are some of the easiest eyebrow shadows I’ve ever tried to blend,’ she told her followers.
