Stone took her time relaying her story.

The Hollywood icon collapsed at home and then went to the hospital thinking something was very wrong.

‘In my case, um, I had bleeding into my brain for several days before I went to a hospital and I became unconscious when I got there and they put me in a cat scan machine to find out what happened to me,’ said the perennial cover girl.

‘And when |I came to I was on a table in a very quiet emergency room, no one was in there, just the doctor, no one is doing anything urgently you’re like, oh,’ and she uses her hand across her neck to signal she was nearly dead.

‘And the doctor is just looking at me so compassionately and I said, am I dying and I realized it was a bad situation, it’s way too quiet and nobody is helping… he stroked my hair and I thought oh yup, yuppers… and he said you are bleeding into your brain,’ said the red carpet favorite.

‘I called my mom and then he said that they were going to transfer me to a neurological hospital that they didn’t have what I needed,’ added the Pennsylvania native.

Then she detailed her near death experience.

‘They put me on this gurney… and all of a sudden that was it and I was just gone and I felt myself kind of so this sweep upwards and there was this tunnel of light and I was swooping up through this tunnel of light and at the top of it was kind of this hole and several people that I had been very close to or I had been their caretakers until they died were kind of looking down through that open hole at the top and I felt like they were telling me this is all great, this is going to be fine, it’s going to be wonderful,’ said The Specialist actress.

‘And I felt like “Oh I am going to be with you guys” and I was really moving quickly it was like the tunnel was miles and miles long.

‘And then all of a sudden I felt like – and I don’t know if they defibrillated me – but I felt like I got really kicked in the chest, really really hard and I gasped and sat up and I was back in the emergency room on the gurney and someone said, “What’s happening?” and the doctor said don’t touch her and then asked her what she needed.

She said she really had to ‘pee.’

And the doctor pointed to the bathroom ‘and he did not want anyone to touch me and the floor looked very far away, it seemed like I was floating and then they took me to the other hospital.

‘It was very beautiful, it was very strange,’ she added.

She went to another hospital and she got an angiogram and they missed her brain bleed. She bled for another five or six days and she said they thought she was ‘faking it’ and they wanted to send her home but she told her best friend Mini Craven she was dying.

Mimi threw a ‘fit’ and they gave her another angiogram and then they realized an artery had ruptured.

She woke up: 'And then all of a sudden I felt like - and I don't know if they defibrillated me - but I felt like I got really kicked in the chest, really really hard and I gasped and sat up and I was back in the emergency room on the gurney,' she added

She had a seven hour surgery and she survived it but the recovery process was long.

It was 10 days after 9/11 and she said ‘the whole world was upside down.’

The experience was detailed in her book The Beauty of Living Twice.

Corden said he loved the outpouring of support from the book. She said she was not prepared for people reading the book and she started panicking that people would see it, and she never thought it would be this successful.

She also touched on being an auctioneer for charity. ‘In the beginning I was not good, I was shy, and I was very nervous and as I got into it I realized I had to invent a character, as we do, I tried to do it as myself and I was crying, and then I invented this character, and she’s kind of dirty and loves to pick people out of the room and say really crazy things to them.’

She remembered she singled out Calvin Klein and bet he was wearing Calvin Klein underwear and at the end of the bidding, he had to take down his pants to prove it.

And the song went up to number four on adult contemporary charts.

She also said Robin Thicke came over to her house the other day – stopping to say she was bragging – to pick up some songs for his artist.

And now the Casino actress has a music manager. ‘My songs are going out to people and it’s really exciting,’ she added, which James said was ‘incredible.’

This comes after Stone said she  thinks women are at their most powerful after 40.

The actress has rubbished the idea that women become less powerful with age and she thinks now is the perfect time to release her upcoming memoir, ‘The Beauty of Living Twice’.

In People’s look at Sharon’s ‘Super Soul’ interview with Oprah Winfrey, she says: “I think that as we grow older, we have this societal pressure where people start to try to tell us that our worth is diminished.”

However, the Hollywood star revealed she sees the situation totally differently.

She explained: ‘I think this is a time in our life when our worth is the most enhanced. I believe that’s because it’s the first time in your life when your worth becomes so much more. You become the most powerful than you’ve ever been.’
