Sharon Stone spotted at LAX

Since suffering a stroke in 2001, Sharon Stone has become an advocate for brain health and warning women of the risks of stroke.

On Wednesday, the Hollywood star was spotted arriving back in Los Angeles after a special trip to Arizona to sing the praises of the neurologist who saved her life 16 years ago.

Sharon, 59, looked lovely as she walked through the LAX arrivals area in a black dress with a lace trim on the hem.

Earlier on Wednesday, Sharon took part in a press conference at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix where she spoke to the media about Dr. Michael Lawton, who has just been appointed president and C.E.O. of the medical center.

The Basic Instinct star told reporters she was happy to see Lawton head up the important work of the Institute, according to NBC affiliate 12News Phoenix.

‘He not only saved my life but he made a full life possible for me,’ she said. ‘He made it possible for me to be a fully functioning, fully capable person, friend, daughter mother and actress.’

Sharon was admitted to the California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco after suffering a stroke with hemorrhaging and fired her first neurosurgeon.

That’s when Lawton came to see her.

‘Dr. Lawton took a career risk by stepping forward in the way he did. He oversaw my care in a way that I can’t imagine any other young doctor doing,’ she explained.

Meanwhile, THR.com reported Wednesday that the actress is set to star in the dark comedic thriller Sunny as a mob mistress, drug kingpin and devoted single mother.

Norwegian filmmaker Eva Sorhaug is attached to direct the film as her first English-language feature, the trade said.

Sorhaug told THR.com: ‘Sharon Stone is the perfect actress to bring Sunny and all of her complexities to the screen. Her effortless ability to play strong, sexy women will take this fierce female character to the next level.’
