A shirtless man stopped traffic, roared foul abuse at police officers and ordered them to ‘shoot him’ in a terrifying scene that unfolded in a leafy suburb. 

The shocking incident happened across from a Mercedes Benz dealer on Denmark Street in Kew, five kilometres east of Melbourne’s CBD.

Footage of the incident, which was posted online, shows two female police officers walking towards the man as emergency sirens ring out in the background.

A shirtless man is then seen standing in the middle of the street shouting vile abuse at the officers.

‘F*** off, you f****** dogs,’ he roared. 

‘Shoot me. Shoot me, ya f****** dogs,’ he shouts while punching his chest and gesticulating at the police. 

As the officer’s sirens continue, the agitated man holds an aggressive stance and continues his tirade. 

‘Shoot me, go on, shoot me,’ he said, over and over again. 

The video ends with three police officers, two female and one male, approaching the man, who had by then turned away and crossed the street.

Viewers of the video expressed their shock and horror at what they had just watched.

‘Get a load of this,’ one person commented. 

Another poster pointed out how well to do the suburb of Kew is. 

‘Houses in this area only cost $1m +,’ the comment said. 

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Victoria Police for comment on the incident.
