Shock jock Kyle Sandilands reveals the crude question he regrets asking Yoko Ono

‘What’s wrong with me?’ Shock jock Kyle Sandilands reveals the crude question he regrets asking John Lennon’s widow Yoko Ono

He’s a seasoned celebrity interviewer, but Kyle Sandilands admitted he came away with a few regrets after talking to Yoko Ono.

In a replay of The Kyle & Jackie O Show on Wednesday, the 50-year-old shock jock reflected on his interview with the renowned artist and widow of John Lennon.

Kyle pointed out that his longtime co-host, Jackie ‘O’ Henderson, had asked ‘such a gentle, touching, historical question’, and then he ruined it.

Jackie, 46, had asked Yoko what her ‘favourite memory’ was of the late Beatle, which prompted Kyle to clarify, ‘Not the sex!’

But a gracious Yoko, 88, took it all in her stride, and jokingly responded: ‘You mean you have to cut out the sex? I don’t think John’s going to like that.’

Looking back on the interview, Kyle admitted it wasn’t one of his finer moments.

‘What’s wrong with me when you’ve asked such a gentle, touching, historical question? What’s wrong with me?’ he asked Jackie.

He added: ‘I’ve been twisted my whole life. This isn’t a new thing. I’ve been doing that forever.’

John and Yoko were married from 1969 until his assassination in New York City in December 1980 at the age of 40.

Making things awkward: Jackie, 46, had asked Yoko what her 'favourite memory' was of John Lennon, which prompted Kyle to clarify, 'Not the sex!'

Talking on The Kyle and Jackie O Show in February last year, Kyle revealed he thought Yoko was dead, too.

‘God bless her and rest in peace, Yoko,’ Kyle said at the time, prompting Jackie to ask, ‘Oh, is Yoko dead?’

Kyle then admitted he didn’t actually know, but assumed she was, with Jackie clarifying: ‘John’s dead, but not Yoko! He’s gone, many years ago.’
