Shocking dashcam shows ‘drunk’ woman sleeping on Texas highway

A woman who was found sleeping at the side of a highway was aided by an officer and then placed under arrest early Saturday.

Dashcam footage captured the moment police found Jeanette Murillow face up and passed out along FM 109 in Fulshear, Texas, before Sgt. Charlie Scott, of the city’s police department, rushed out of his cruiser and rescued her.

The officer was seen as he communicated with Murillow and checked to see if she was still breathing.

Before long, he grabbed her hand and helped her off of the road. It’s unclear what the two were saying, as dashcam released by the department does not have audio.

When Murillow finally stood up, she stumbled over and nearly tumbled into a ditch nearby.

Fulshear Police said a car believed to belong to the woman was found in a ditch nearly 200 yards from where she was found.

Scott added that there were several open alcohol containers inside the vehicle.

Police said the incident was an ‘unfortunate mistake’ that ‘could have ended tragically and the ride could have been to the morgue.’

The cops’ Facebook post read: ‘Being in the wrong place at the right time is exactly what happened during the early morning hours over the weekend along FM 1093.’

It said further: ‘We all make mistakes, however, this mistake almost cost this young woman her life.’

It seems Scott initially believed Murillow’s body was an object when he saw another vehicle in front of him swerving over into the middle of the road.

‘Thankfully, Sergeant Scott happened to be on patrol at the right time and in the right place.

‘Sergeant Scott immediately realized that “the object” in the road was a person and quickly stopped to render aid.’

Murillow has been jailed and charged with public intoxication as a result.
