Her newborn daughter was strapped into her car seat in the back when the incident occurred and thankfully was not hurt.

Mrs Butler shared footage of the incident to her Facebook page which shows her driving along the freeway before she changes lanes, going behind a truck.

All seems fine until suddenly an explosion of dust is seen before a metal pole comes flying from below the truck.

In in instant the metal bounces along the road and smashes into Mrs Butler’s windscreen.

It takes Mrs Butler a moment to comprehend what has happened before she can be heard getting emotional as she brings the car to a stop.

‘Oh my god!’ she is heard shouting in the footage.

Then Mrs Butler is understandably heard breaking down when the full weight of what has happened sets in.
