Shocking footage has emerged of a seemingly unprovoked road rage attack which took place in busy peak hour traffic.

Dash cam video of the incident shows a man confronting another driver stopped at a red light on Tuesday morning in Maroochydore, on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.

A ute driver can be seen stopping next to a red Holden Commodore before storming out of his car.

He walks towards the driver’s side of the car, rips open the door and begins shouting at the victim.

Not long after, he appears to hit the other driver.

Craig, who took the video, told 7News he initially thought it was a friend of the driver’s getting out of the car.

‘But then he tore the door open and started throwing punches,’ he said.

A few seconds later, the aggressor slams the door closed before walking back to his vehicle and speeding off.

The victim also leaves the scene, driving off once his light turns green.

Craig said he didn’t witness either of the drivers do anything to trigger an attack.

Queensland police told Daily Mail Australia the incident had been reported but no one has been arrested or charged, and the driver of the Holden is yet to make a complaint.
