Shocking moment driver flees crash where passenger died

This is the horrifying moment a vehicle careered into another, before the driver fled the scene and left his passenger to die.

New South Wales police released CCTV footage of the incident, which took place in Punchbowl on August 7, 2016, with the hopes the public may be able to help identify the man involved.

The crash occurred just before 11am on Warwick Street, when a white Mitsubishi EVO appeared to turn sideways and collide with a Honda CRV.

The driver of the Mitsubishi fled the scene, while passenger Georgina ‘Gina’ Abdullah, 38, was left with critical injuries.

The mother-of-two was transported to Liverpool Hospital following the incident, but later died.

The 45-year-old driver of the other car sustained minor injuries and was taken to Bankstown Hospital for treatment.

Despite extensive investigations the male driver has yet to be identified, with Detective Inspector Katie Orr saying they will not quit until he is found.

‘The driver involved in this crash left his passenger at a crash scene to die,’ Detective Inspector Orr said.  

‘We will continue to investigate this incident until the person responsible for this matter is caught.

‘It is important to remember that any piece of information, no matter how small you may think it is, could assist our investigation.’
