Shocking moment man tries to rape a bikini barista

Shocking surveillance footage shows the moment a knife-wielding man crawled through the window of a coffee stand early Tuesday in an attempt to kidnap and rape a bikini barista in Washington state. 

The 33-year-old suspect, later identified as Michael Reynolds, is seen sliding what appears to be a tip jar out of the way so that he could climb through the window. 

In the video, the barista is heard screaming ‘oh my God’ as the man grabs her.

Fearing for her life, the woman walks over to the window and climbs out as the suspect climbs out behind her.  

The Kent Police Department said the incident occurred around 4.45am at Hottie Shots Espresso.

Authorities said the suspect ordered a drink right before the attempted attack.

The barista told police that after they climbed out of the window, the man forced her into a dark alley near the stand, according to The News Tribune.

Police released the footage and pleaded for the public’s help in finding the man. 

‘We want to get this guy picked up,’ Det. Melanie Robinson told KOMO, before the suspect was caught.

‘He’s obviously a coward who preys on young women and females who are working in situations just like this, and he’s a coward because there’s nobody else around to protect them but themselves.’ 

Less than a day after police released the footage of the attack, they arrested the Reynolds who has an extensive criminal history.

Kent police arrested Reynolds on Wednesday from a furniture warehouse, where he worked.

He was released from prison in September last year after serving a decade for robbery and burglary, according to KIRO-7.

Another barista who works at the coffee stand told told the station that they’ve ‘been robbed a couple times as well’.

‘If somebody ever wants something in here, we assume it’s the money. This was much more terrifying.’ 

Prosecutors are reviewing the case and will decide whether to file charges.
