Shocking moment masked thugs attack car with machetes in Birmingham

Horrifying footage has captured the moment a masked thug wielding a machete tried to smash through a motorist’s window.

Two balaclava-clad men sprint after a car and try to break through the glass during a brazen broad daylight assault.

A silver BMW repeatedly collides with the car and rams it into a parked vehicle in a residential street in Birmingham as it attempts to get away.

Another man then appears to launch a hammer at the car windscreen before fleeing with his accomplice.

A passing motorist was forced to reverse out of the way to avoid a collision while a terrified passenger filmed the shocking scenes with a mobile phone.

A clip of the incident, which took place in the inner city suburb of Handsworth, was shared on social media yesterday and viewed more than 20,000 times.

It shows the BMW shunting the Toyota into a parked car as a female passenger says: ‘Back up, back up, back up.’

After reversing to a safe distance the cameraman zooms in on a masked man wearing a black hoody and jeans furiously slashing at the car with a machete.

The thug is forced to break off his attack and jump backwards as the BMW smashes into the Toyota again, lifting one of its back wheels off the tarmac.

A second masked yob then rushes over to the stranded car and appears to hurl a hammer at the windshield before both men turn and run.

It comes after a spate of violent raids on motorists including comedian Michael McIntyre, who was mugged by two men on a moped yesterday.

The comic was sat in his Range Rover when thugs smashed his car window and stole his £15,000 Rolex watch as he waited to pick up his son in north west London.

The footage emerged just hours after police arrested a 17-year-old boy for allegedly smashing a driver’s window with a ‘zombie’ knife during a terrifying road rage attack in Croydon, south London on May 30.

A viral video showed the panicked motorist being forced to run from his car moments after nearly knocking the suspect off his bike.

On Friday, another machete-wielding thug was caught on camera chasing a man down the street in Castlemilk, Glasgow, before fleeing from police.

Social media viewers warned the Birmingham attack was further evidence that extreme violence was becoming the ‘new norm’ on British roads.
