This is the terrifying moment a policewoman runs for cover after an exploding firework is launched at her in the street in an attack that saw children caught in the crossfire. 

More than one projectile was launched, leaving ‘several’ officers with injuries, while and a nine-year-old girl had her hair singed. 

Officers were patrolling the streets of Enfield, London, at around 6.30pm yesterday when they were attacked outside a McDonald’s.

The child’s mother and three-year-old brother had their coats burnt in the incident, while a woman entering the restaurant fell and hurt her knee. 

The shocking incident was caught on footage from a body-worn camera.

In the video, the policewoman starts to run towards her fellow officers shouting ‘firework, firework’. The camera turns as a scream can be heard.

The projectiles are seen exploding on the ground by the officers’ feet, with sparks flying into the air just centimetres away from them.

Enfield MPS posted the video to Twitter, confirming that members of the public were injured in the horrific attack.

A spokesman from the Met Police said: ‘Officers will always be used as a target to throw fireworks at, however members of the public and children were injured as a result of others inappropriate dangerous behaviour.’
