Shocking moment woman driver blocks traffic on highway and launches into fiery road rage row

This is the shocking moment a woman brought traffic to a standstill by getting out of her car and screaming at the driver behind her in a blazing argument over merging.

More than 30 cars were forced to stop on a Canberra road when the woman stopped her car to engage in the road rage row.

Footage shows the woman getting out of her car and yelling abuse at the male driver behind her, saying that she was going to stay put until police turned up.

While it is not clear from the footage what caused the altercation, the passenger filming claimed the incident was sparked when the woman cut their car off while trying to merge.

A road rage incident saw traffic come to a standstill as a woman (pictured) refused to move her vehicle following the confrontation

‘She slammed on her brakes on purpose, almost causing us to run into her, so we gave her the finger,’ he claimed.

This action is known as brake checking, when a driver deliberately brakes very hard in front of another driver who is very closely behind, causing them to swerve or otherwise react quickly to avoid an accident.

The video opens with cars beeping their horns at a woman, before she gets out of her car and pulls out her phone out to take pictures.

‘You’ve just come to a complete stop on the road!’ the driver yells out his window at the woman.

She then threatens to call the state police, and takes photos of both the driver and his number plate.

The numerous cars lined up behind the woman continue to beep their horns, urging her to move.

‘Go on get in your f***ing car,’ the male driver tells the woman, who continues to hold her phone up and take pictures.

‘Cutting us off, and then coming to a complete stop on the road, causing an accident,’ he says.

‘Excuse me! Maybe if you weren’t sitting so close you wouldn’t have had to slam on the f***ing brakes!’ the woman yells in response.

‘One car, one car, you dumba**. I’m allowed to merge! There’s no rule saying I can’t merge,’ she continues to say.

Members of the public also got involved in the altercation.

A woman who was walking past pulled her phone out to film the woman, saying: ‘Get your car out of the way’.

After expressing once more that the car behind her was tailing her, the woman walks back to her car, insisting she won’t move until police come.

As the video continues, people continue to beep their horns and some people join in and start to hurl abuse at the woman.

The end of the video shows the cameraman talking to other witnesses, who says: ‘We witnessed it all, if they need anything we’ve seen it all, and she was the aggressor.’
