Shoppers are going wild for a $35 5-in-1 salad maker from Kmart, describing it as the ‘best gadget ever’.

The gadget is a motorised vegetable chopper and comes with two blades for slicing and three blades for grating – all at different sizes and widths.

One Kmart fan, who calls herself Amelia’s Home Edit on TikTok, said the salad maker works well and is something she would ‘definitely’ use in her day to day life.

‘It’s new, it’s Kmart and it’s the 5-in-1 salad maker,’ Amelia wrote on TikTok. ‘This thing was so cheap, but does it work?’

Putting it to the test, the homeowner was surprised to find that ‘it really works well’.

‘It’s got two blades for slicing and three blades for grating,’ Amelia said.

‘One of the three very finely grates. That’s a sweet potato uncooked and it goes straight through it.’ 

Amelia said she also likes the fact that it isn’t huge or ‘cumbersome’, and so it won’t take up too much space either in your cupboard or on your work bench.

Amelia said while she would definitely use the gadget for making salads, she would also use it for other things like making hot chips from sweet potato. 

‘It is powerful enough to do these things. That sweet potato went through easily,’ she said. 

She also likes the fact that it is colour coded and has its ‘own little storage container so it looks good if you keep it out on the bench’.

Finally, she said it was easy to clean – as she put the parts in the dishwasher and they all ‘came out fine’.
