Shrewsbury Town have confirmed that manager Steve Cotterill has returned to hospital after suffering from Covid-pneumonia.

The 56-year-old only left intensive care on February 16 after contracting Covid-19 in January but has had to return following complications with the virus.

Shrewsbury’s assistant manager Aaron Wilbraham insists Cotterill will get through this latest diagnosis after being re-admitted over the weekend.

‘For somebody who has never missed a day’s work in his life, this will hit the manager really hard,’ Wilbraham told the club’s official website. ‘He’s one of the strongest and toughest people I know, and I know he’ll get through this Covid-pneumonia.’
