Despite the hairy situation, The Mentalist actor cut a dapper figure in a crisp white dress shirt, a tailored black suit jacket and trousers, and a narrow blue tie.

That’s unfortunate! Simon Baker, 49, suffered a bad hair day as he arrived on the AACTA Awards red carpet in Sydney on Wednesday

The Launceston-born actor added black dress shoes, a blue awareness ribbon and designer sunglasses to the look.

Appearing relaxed and at ease, Simon chatted and smiled as he spoke to media on the red carpet.

Simon, who directed his first feature film Breath in 2017, told Daily Mail Australia in April this year what drew him to the Tim Winton novel of the same name.

‘It was pretty much how I grew up,’ Simon, who also stars as surfer Sando in the movie explained.

‘So much of (Tim Winton’s story) resonated with me,’ Simon said of the film set in remote Western Australia.

‘In fact, it was pretty much how I grew up,’ he explained.

The father-of-three went on to explain why he decided to make the transition from actor to director.

‘I think if you’re going to take the leap as a director, with any film it’s got to be a story that’s dear to you,’ Simon told Daily Mail Australia.

‘Otherwise you’re going to be putting a lot of your heart and soul into something that you don’t care much about,’ he went on to say.
