Simon Cowell celebrates his 60th birthday with family dinner in Malibu

He’s busy filming for the new series of America’s Got Talent, but Simon Cowell squeezed in a family celebration to mark his milestone 60th birthday on Monday.

The music and TV mogul headed to celeb hotspot Nobu in Malibu for a celebratory dinner with his nearest and dearest.

Simon was joined by his gorgeous girlfriend Lauren Silverman, his son Eric, five, and Lauren’s son Adam, who both matched birthday boy Simon in white shirts.

Party time! Simon Cowell was joined by his family, including girlfriend Lauren Silverman, for a family dinner at Nobu Malibu on Monday to celebrate his 60th birthday

Simon stuck to his signature style, teaming an unbuttoned white shirt with black trousers and shades.

Little Eric was the spitting image of his dad in his own white shirt paired with jeans.

Lauren meanwhile pulled out all the stops in a tight-fitting black and white print strapless dress.

In light of his milestone year, Simon recently underwent a radical health kick and has cut out dairy, sugar, bread, gluten, and meat from his diet.

He insisted that he won’t even let the regime slack on his 60th birthday and vowed: ‘No cakes. There will not be a birthday cake.’

The Britain’s Got Talent judge recently admitted during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that he drastically changed his diet so he could keep up with Eric.

He said: ‘I went to see this doctor in London. We did some tests. And then a month later he said, “You have the worst diet I’ve ever met from any patient.”

‘So I went, “Okay, out of the smoking, the drinking, and diet, what do I have to drop?” And he said, “The diet.” So I said, “I’m in!”

‘It was easier than I thought, and part of the reason I did it was because of Eric. I realised if I didn’t sort myself out physically, I wouldn’t be able to catch up with him.

‘Because the minute he gets up to the minute he goes to sleep … their energy, you forget, at five years old, is phenomenal.’

Simon previously said he’d named his diet the Eric Cowell diet after his son, because the youngster loves to munch on raw vegetables.

He said: ‘It’s like the Eric diet because he actually, apart from ice cream, he actually likes water. I mean, who likes water? And his raw vegetables. So I’m on like, the Eric Cowell diet.’

Bosses at ITV have decided to pull the plug on the sister show to Britain’s Got Talent, which has been hosted by Stephen Mulhern since it launched in 2007, in order to focus their attention to online and social media.

An insider told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: ‘Stephen is a much-loved member of the ‘BGT’ family and everyone loved him on the show. ‘He is still incredibly busy, with lots of exciting projects for ITV.

‘Behind the scenes, executives decided it was the right time to move on. ‘It will be sad to bring the curtain down on it after so many years of laughs.

But it is important to move with the times, and the reality is younger audiences who once watched it now consume a lot more of their content online. The plan is to focus more on the digital platforms — clips for social media and things like that.’

A spokesperson for ‘BGT’ confirmed: ‘As our 18-34 audience share continues to grow and viewing habits are changing, naturally we are listening to our viewers and focusing more on digital platforms in support of the main show.’
