He’s famous for his ‘Mr Nasty’ persona portrayed on the small screen.

And Simon Cowell looked worlds away from his alter-ego as he enjoyed a family day out with girlfriend Lauren Silverman, 40, and adorable son Eric, four, in Malibu.

The music mogul, 58, was every inch the doting dad as he joked around with his four-year-old youngster and even treated Eric to a delicious ice cream.

So cute! Simon Cowell, 58, looked every inch the family man as he enjoyed a day out with girlfriend Lauren Silverman, 40, and son Eric, four, in Malibu

Simon was clad in a white T-shirt and signature blue flared denim jeans as he lovingly held onto Eric as he joined Lauren for a quick sunny stroll.

The Britain’s Got Talent stalwart concealed his eyes from the sun’s glare with mirrored aviator glasses and polished off the look with tan pointed boots.

The showbiz family then stopped for a quick break in the sunshine as Lauren had the youngster in a fit of giggles with something on her phone.

The American socialite was in a laid-back purple vest top and black cropped leggings, paired with a chic cream sunhat and simple flip flops.

Lauren didn’t seem to mind spending the day with Simon’s ex Terri Seymour, 46,  and her cute daughter Coco, three.

Terri – who dated Simon for six years – looked glamorous in a patterned sun dress as she and Coco tagged along for a play date with Eric, with the little ones cooling down with a delicious cold treat after a supermarket run.

The sweet family day out comes after the X Factor judge confessed his ‘Mr Nasty’ personality is not what he’s like in real life – and the persona was something that US producers at American Idol thought would work well.

He told the Sunday Mirror: ‘I was not grumpy the whole time.

‘They just decided, the producers, it would be funnier to make me looking miserable and it was sort of an accident.

‘I found the process so miserable, I hated it.’

He added that he did not expect the show, which he quit in 2010, to be such a success.

Simon has been dating his beau Lauren for five years, and the pair had quite a tumultuous start to their romance.

In 2013, it was revealed the television honcho had been in a relationship with his then-best friend Andrew Silverman’s wife, after pictures emerged of them kissing on a yacht.

The pair then welcomed their son Eric in February 2014. They named him after Simon’s late father, who died in 1999.
