Simon Cowell’s pal and ex Sinitta ‘to miss music mogul’s upcoming wedding to Lauren Silverman’

Simon Cowell’s longtime friend Sinitta is set to miss the music mogul’s upcoming wedding to Lauren Silverman.

Singer Sinitta, 58, was Simon’s first signing as s record company executive back in 1986 and the pair had an on-off romance for 20 years after they first met in 1983.

And, while they remain good friends today, Sinitta will not be present when he says ‘I do’ to American socialite Lauren, 44 – because she will be on tour as Matron Mama Morton with the musical Chicago.

The star will be performing at the Grand Opera House in Belfast from June 6 to 11, with Simon rumoured to have planned his nuptials for next month.

She told the Mirror: ‘I’ll send him the lucky Irish leaf – I’ll send him a shamrock from Louis (Walsh).’

‘The tour has been going since September, and I was supposed to do the first three months, but I ended up staying for six because they invited me to because it went really well.

‘And then I left in January and the tour continued and now I’m just coming back for Belfast, Plymouth and Llandudno, so I will finish the last week of the tour as well, which is great fun, so I’m starting and finishing it!’

Simon proposed to girlfriend Lauren on Christmas Eve in Barbados.

According to The Sun, the Britain’s Got Talent judge, 62, has set the date for June and their son Eric, eight, will be ‘front and centre’.

A source told the publication: ‘Simon cannot wait to have Lauren as his wife and didn’t see the point in delaying it. He has taken charge of the planning and the date has been set for June.

‘The ceremony is going to take place in London, with their son Eric front and centre, naturally.

‘It’s been a long time coming and now Simon wants to get Lauren up the aisle as quickly as he can.’

Despite his previous staunch vows to never walk up the aisle, an insider previously claimed the past two years – in which the global pandemic hit and the star broke his back – made Simon change his stance.

The source told People: ‘They have fun together, as well as being each other’s rock.

‘They are both passionate but really do bring out the very best in each other. As a family, they all have such an incredible bond.

‘A lot of things have happened in the last few years and just like for everyone else in the world, these things have all been a reminder about what is precious to them.’

Simon, who has never been married, previously admitted that he can’t see himself ever dating again as he opened up on changing his mind about marriage after falling in love with Lauren.

He said he decided to propose to his long-time girlfriend in January after feeling like they were already engaged while living together during lockdown.

He described the Covid-19 pandemic as a ‘make or break’ moment for relationships and said lockdown helped him and Lauren to grow closer and realise how much they get on.

He told The Sun: ‘I also just couldn’t see myself ever dating anyone again. The idea of going out on a first date now is too weird.’

The Britain’s Got Talent judge revealed another reason he decided to propose was because he felt it was the right thing to do for their son Eric, eight.
