Single woman reveals why she prefers dating divorcee men – and says women should ‘pounce like a tiger’ on the closest one around

A single Australian radio producer has listed the many benefits of dating a divorcee, advising women to ‘pounce like a tiger on the closest divorced man’ because they are more likely to know what they want second time round.
Jana Hocking, who works at Sydney’s Triple M radio station, said the pros of dating previously married men ‘far outweigh the cons’ in her weekly Whimn column What’s a Girl To Do.
The journalist urged singletons to remain upbeat and committed to the dating circuit, because sooner or later they will meet someone who has ‘made all the mistakes in their first marriage and are aiming to do better in the next’.
She also believes divorcees are better communicators and more traditional in their views than those who have never been married, meaning they are less likely to ask you out – or dump you – by text.

Jana recently dated a divorced man, who had never used modern dating apps like Tinder and was keen to impress her with old fashioned chivalry like taking her for a sit-down dinner rather than a drink.
In the aftermath of his marriage breakdown, he was also ‘determined not to make [the same] mistakes again’, making kind and thoughtful gestures that made Jana feel special.
‘It seemed like this guy was a unicorn, but no – he was just dating they did in the good old days before technology made us lazy,’ she said.
And while many women balk at the thought of a prospective partner having children already, Jana enjoyed spending time with her boyfriend’s kids, seeing the arrangement as the best of both worlds.
‘I could enjoy the fun, raucous family dinners, but also a quiet weekend with my partner and a lot of wine when the kids were with their mum,’ she said.

One of Jana’s divorced friends agreed, telling her their dating life was ‘infinitely better’ after marriage.
He felt his first relationship had given him greater self-awareness and a clearer picture of who his ideal partner would be, while dating at a slightly older age has made him more confident and financially secure.
The average Australian marriage lasts for 12 years, with roughly two divorces per 1,000 couples.
The most common age for getting a divorce in Australia is just over 45 for men, and 43 for women.
