Comedian Sir Lenny Henry has expressed his shock on Twitter over art work on display in his theatre dressing room in Bournemouth.

The entertainer took a selfie of himself in front of a questionable poster that contained images of African American tribal characters dressed in costumes.

Following his sell-out show at the Bournemouth Pavilion theatre in Dorset, the 61-year-old tweeted: ‘Maybe change the posters in the dressing rooms. I heartily recommend SHAFT or SILVER STREAK. Or even HOWARDS END…but not this.’

In it he recounts his Jamaican family’s attempts to integrate in Britain in the 1950s and the racism they faced.
