‘The owners feel it’s just too good of a home to bowl over,’ Ray White real estate agent Stu Fleming told Stuff.

‘It’s a substantial home, to build it today it would cost up to $650,000.

‘It’s going for free but obviously you’ve got to shift it, which is a big job and put it on your site.’

The two-storey property comes complete with a Jacuzzi, a study and a garden balcony.

It was originally built in the 1950s with the second storey added in the 1980s.

The owners had tried to sell the home but there were no takers.

Mr Fleming said it failed under the hammer because of its size.

He said the home needs a considerable amount of work done and no one was willing to pay for the house, its removal and renovation costs.

The cost to relocate and renovate the home is likely to be  about $400,000, Mr Fleming said, meaning it would still be a money-saver for anyone who made the effort.
