Six killed in wrong-way car crash in northern California

  • A Chevy going southbound in the northbound lane crashed with a Dodge on I-5
  • All six people involved in the crash lost their lives due to their injuries
  • It’s not known whether drugs or alcohol had a role in causing the fiery crash 

A wrong way driver caused a car crash that killed six people in northern California, with both cars bursting into flames.

The California Highway Patrol got calls around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday of a Chevy driving south in the northbound lanes of Interstate 5. 

When they arrived to investigate, the Chevy had collided head on with a Dodge traveling northbound. 

The crash occurred in the Yolo County, northwest of Sacramento.

Both vehicles caught fire after the crash, police said.

The driver of the Chevrolet, an unidentified woman, died in the crash.

The other car involved, a Dodge, was carrying five passengers, three women and two men. All five passed away in the collision.

There’s no word at present whether alcohol or drugs were involved in the crash, but police are investigating the cause.
