SIX KILOGRAM newborn tips scale at twice average weight

The heaviest baby to have ever been delivered at Queensland’s Rockhampton Hospital arrived on Monday, weighing in at a whopping 6.02kg.

Maisie Lily Macdonald also surprised her parents, Mason Macdonald and Makaela Kirkby, by arriving a week early.

She joins 17-month-old sister, Aubree Rose, who was also a heavy infant, born weighing just over 5kg.

Mr Macdonald took to Facebook to share a picture of his newborn and break the exciting news.

‘I’d like to introduce Maisie Lily Macdonald to everyone, weighing in at 13 pound 4 ounces (6.020 kilograms) claiming the record of biggest baby born at Rockhampton hospital,’ he wrote.

‘Welcome to the world and the family ya massive newborn.’

The words accompanied a photo of Maisie fresh out of the womb, with doctors proudly holding her up above the operating table.

The extraordinary size of the baby unsurprisingly garnered more than 400 likes and more than 100 comments from people eager to congratulate the parents.

‘Wow just wow…. congrats guys all the best. And you go girl how the f**k did you carry her… I take my hat off to you and kneel at your feet… you are a machine,’ one particularly impressed friend wrote.

Queensland is no stranger to exceptionally large babies, with Oliver “Ollie” Stokes the heaviest of all time for the State, born in 2013 at 6.7kg.

And the youngster seemed to have kept up his past-paced growing, tipping the scales at 13.3kg at his first birthday; just three kilos less than his three-year-old brother, Luke, Courier Mail reports.

Jake McGuire also made a grand entrance into the world in 2015, weighing a massive 6.04kg at birth.
