According to the child’s mother, Warnisha Davis, it all started on June 16 when she and Marcell’s father, whom she described as homeless, got into a heated argument that escalated to violence.

‘He punched me in the face multiple times, he kicked me on the ground and he ran away with my baby,’ a sobbing Davis told the station WSVN.

Davis called 911 and made a domestic violence complaint. She also told police that Marcel’s father took off without any milk or diapers for the baby.

Twelve hours later, the mother-of-one got a call saying her son has died.

From speaking to detectives, Davis says she has learned that Marcell’s father had allegedly given the infant a lollipop to suck on, and then fell asleep. When the man woke up later, he saw that the baby was gasping for air.

But the time he was brought to the hospital, it was too late to save him.

The Florida Department of Children and Families has opened an invesitgation into baby Marcell’s death.

‘I need answers. I need justice for my son. Because he didn’t deserve this,’ said the mother.

On her Facebook page, Davis has been posting photos of her cradling her son in her arms during their time together.

‘I smile because I know that my baby boy is in a better place,’ she wrote in a post dated June 23. ‘I feel empty at times because you were my main priority but I know you are watching over me. My first born I will love you forever. You are dancing in the sky now, I will see you again one day my angel R.I.P.’
