Six men have been charged over a wild brawl at the races which saw one punter whack a man on the head with a bunch of flowers. 

The scuffle erupted at the Australian Turf Club’s Christmas at Rosehill Racecourse, in Sydney’s western suburbs, on Saturday afternoon. 

Revellers were left with torn shirts and pants as fists flew during the violent confrontation, which involved up to 30 punters.

Some spectators attempted to stop the mayhem and security guards were forced to request back-up.

Women desperately tried to intervene, with one even transforming her bouquet of flowers into a weapon to hit one of the combatants.

One of the men appeared to have blood across his head from the melee. 

NSW Police said six men were issued with field court attendance notices for affray following the brawl.

A court date is yet to be set.
