Six Premium Bonds holders scoop £100,000 prizes from holdings of less than £5,000
A Premium Bonds holder scooped a £100,000 prize in National Savings & Investments’ Premium Bonds prize draw this month with a holding of just £300.
This represents a huge 33,233 per cent return and the winner, based in Warwickshire, only purchased the bond in January,.
Several other Premium Bonds holders scooped the £100,000 prize with holdings of less than £5,000.

A Northamptonshire based winner managed it with a a £1,000 holding, while two winners from West Yorkshire bagged £100,000 prizes with holdings of £1,455 and £1,500.
A Southampton based winner had a holding of £3,125, while a winner from Stockport won the £100,000 prize with a holding of £4,430.
The winners of the £1million jackpot came from Norwich; and Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. One had a holding of £30,000, and the other £30,244.
The September Premium Bonds draw was at the new higher prize fund rate of 4.65 per cent – the highest it has been since 1999.
The odds improved from 22,000 to 1 to 21,000 to 1. With the change in odds, Premium Bonds holders saw more than £65 million added to the prize fund .
The old and the new
In this month’s Premium Bonds prize draw, there was a £50,000 prize winner from Australia who won with a £117 bond, bought in 1968.
On the other hand, three of the £50,000 prizes were bought with bonds purchased in July 2023, along with the £100,000 prize – meaning four of the high value £100,000 and £50,000 prizes were purchased just two months ago.
Sally Swait, NS&I assistant retail director, said: ‘Congratulations to our two jackpot winners from Norwich; and Hampshire and the Isle of Wight – we hope each of our winners enjoy their £1million, just in time to prepare for a cosy autumn.’
‘This month there are over 5.7million winners including the two million pound jackpot winners and 90 winners who will receive £100,000.’
In the September 2023 prize draw, a total of 5,782,602 prizes worth £470,559,225 were paid out.

Premium Bonds prizes still to be claimed
In Norwich, there are 8,749 unclaimed prizes worth £260,700 – and ten of them are for £1,000.
The oldest unclaimed prize in Norwich is from the May 1969 prize draw for £25.
In Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, there are 50,694 unclaimed prizes with a total value of £1,528,175.
The largest unclaimed prize is £5,000 and this was from the January 2019 prize draw.
The oldest unclaimed prize in Hampshire and Isle of Wight is from August 1963 for £25.
