Sjana Earp reveals how she edits Instagram shots

Instagram is mostly curated with the best images from people’s lives.

But Australian model and blogger, Sjana Earp, 22, revealed how editing her images not only creates the perfect picture, it’s also an extensive process.

The social media star, who understands the importance of connecting to her audience through strong visual imagery, detailed the many photo editing tools she used in a recent YouTube clip.

Using an app called Snapseed, she explained at length how the app works and how it can help make images more beautiful.

Featuring a whole array of options, Sjana outlined how the app can be used to adjust lighting, tone, contrast, and perspective.

The model also processes her pictures through a range of other apps, including VSCO, Retouch, and the ever-popular Facetune.

The blogger, who isn’t one for playing her cards too closely to her chest, also answered questions from her many fans on all aspects of her life in another recently posted YouTube clip.

Starting with an easy one, the vlogger revealed how exactly her name should be pronounced.

Her name, which is pronounced See-an-ah, she said can be easily remembered because it rhymes with banana.

‘It’s Sjana,’ she quipped, like piranha, or sultana.’

The yoga enthusiast, famed for her incredible flexibility, also revealed how scared she was when she taught her first class.

‘It was scary as hell, she revealed. ‘I was pretty much pooping my pants,’ she joked.

‘Once I started it wasn’t that bad at all.’

She also shared her exercise regime, and while she said she does yoga almost every day, she’s also enjoys running too.

‘I run whenever I feel, a couple of times a week maybe. I run down hills, and sometimes on flat surfaces. And sometimes I walk.’

She said she also likes doing laps, surfing or taking her dog for a walk, or if the mood strikes going for a hike.

Sjana was also asked if she counted calories, to which she firmly responded: ‘No, I do not’.

‘I never have, and I never will,’ she said.

Given hers is an aspiration life, it came as no surprise that she was asked what brings her the most joy.

‘So many things pop up when that question comes to mind,’ she said.

‘Like family, spending time with loved ones, yoga, sunshine, the beach, being in nature,’ she continued.

And while many believe the 22-year-old's idyllic photos are taken by a professional, most of them are actually taken by Sjana herself

‘But ultimately what makes me happy is being around other people who are happy or making others happy.

‘Truly, that’s what I think life is truly about.’

The effusive model said her biggest fear was failure and cockroaches.

‘I’m petrified of cockroaches, they are just so creepy and crawly.’

'First thing’s first you always need to clean the camera - there is nothing worse than if it goes somewhat foggy because you haven’t done that,' she said

The popular blogger, who has a huge social media following, also revealed that one day she hopes she might publish a book.

‘Maybe in the next couple of years, I know it takes a while to publish a book. That is on the cards and that is one of my goals’.

While Sjana’s Instagram account is the envy of many with photos that easily look as though the could have been taken by a professional, the model recently revealed many are taken by herself.

‘I take the majority of my photos. Yep, even the ones where I’m balancing on my head,’ Sjana revealed in a recent post.

‘In fact, I’d say 95 per cent of the photos on my profile are captured with my self timer on my iPhone.

‘And I’ve done it like this for YEARS! Seriously, since 2013 when Instagramming first started to become a “thing”. Only back then, I was embarrassed to admit it.’

‘It makes me giggle every time someone thinks I have a full time photographer following me around because the reality is far less glamorous and much more clumsy and awkward.’

Sjana regularly vlogs her daily life on social media and has spoken openly about how the various platforms have helped her improve her mental health and find happiness.

‘I would say social media has been the opposite of a burden to me,’ Sjana said previously.

‘It has assisted me in finding my purpose, who I truly am, the things I love and helped me to remember what true happiness is.

‘Social media has always shown my reality – when I was 15 I wore a smiling mask, now at 22 I wear a smile.’
