A Saudi prince who has been in a coma for more than a decade has managed to move his hand.

Prince Al-Waleed bin Khalid Al-Saud is seen lifting his fingers as a woman greets him in a video clip.

‘Hi, Didi hello, hello let me see, hi,’ she says as the prince wiggles his fingers in response.

She asks ‘one more, one more, higher, higher’ and the comatose royal lifts his whole hand off the bed momentarily.

‘Very good!,’ the unidentified woman says.

The footage of the moment has been viewed nearly 200,000 times on Twitter and was shared by Saudi princess Noura bint Talal Al-Saud among others.

Prince Al-Waleed has been in a coma since 2005 when he suffered a brain haemorrhage after getting into a car crash while studying at a military college.

The young royal has been on a ventilator since the accident 15 years ago.

His last recorded physical movement was five years ago.

The prince’s father, who is the brother of billionaire business tycoon Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, has never given up hope of his son one day making a full recovery.

Prince Khalid was among the members of the Saudi royal family detained for 11 months for criticising a crackdown on the kingdom’s elite.

Dozens of princes, officials and tycoons were imprisoned at Riyadh’s Ritz-Carlton hotel in 2017.

The prince was re-arrested briefly the following year, the New Arab reported.
