Snake kills pet moggy but can’t finish its meal

Video footage has emerged of the moment a snake is caught tangled around a pet cat as the predator is about to consume its meal. 

Showcasing the dangers of leaving pets outside throughout areas where snakes are common, the python is seen wrapped three or four times around the adorable feline. 

‘We’re here in Lake MacDonald,’ says the snake catcher to the camera, ‘we’ve got a carpet python under a car.’

Before moving the camera to underneath the car he offers a reminder that the sight is very graphic.

He pans the recording device and a striped snake is immediately spotted wrapped around the lifeless body of the cat.

After pulling the cat and snake out from underneath the car, the man picks up the python and puts it into his bag. 

The caption with the clip reminded householders to keep their pets in doors.

‘A carpet python killed and tried to eat a pet cat. It is a harsh reminder to keep your cats inside. 

‘This way they are safe and most importantly keeps our beautiful native wildlife safe from them. 

‘You can’t hate the snake. It’s just doing what is natural for it. Call a snake catcher to remove it or leave it alone.’

A number of people have commented on the video, pointing out the cuteness of the cat, and the sadness of it being killed. 

‘Damn nature. You scary,’ wrote one person on YouTube, another said: ‘Was someone’s cat.’ 

One person said: ‘should have let him eat him, total waste now,’ suggesting the cat was already dead so it may as well have been eaten.
