Snap to make its Bitmoji Friendmoji characters available outside of Snapchat

You can now use Friendmojis outside of the Snapchat app.

Snapchat announced on Friday that users’ Friendmojis, or Bitmojis with friends, are coming to the iMessages app for iPhones and iPads.

The update, which is coming in the next few days, will allow users to send personalized Friendmojis to other people directly inside in the iMessages app.

Snapchat announced on Friday that users’ Friendmojis, or Bitmojis with friends, are coming to the iMessages app for iPhones and iPads. Previously, users could only send them in Snapchat

Previously, users could only send Friendmoji stickers in the Snapchat app.

Now, users can download the Bitmoji iOS Keyboard extension to take advantage of the feature.

Bitmoji are personal emoji that can be sent to other Snapchatters as a sticker in Chat and on Snaps.

An icon for Friendmojis will appear in the Bitmoji keyboard extension in the upper right corner, under the label ‘Friend’.

From there, you can search for specific friends or choose from ones you sent recently.

Bitmoji won’t be able to know who the message is going to, instead relying on your Snapchat friend network, according to Mashable.

To take advantage of the feature, make sure your Bitmoji is linked with your Snapchat account.

The move comes just a few months after Snapchat launched 3D Friendmojis that let users place cartoon versions of themselves and their friends in real-world environments.

In order to create a 3D Friendmoji users need to open chat with a friend and press the ‘capture’ button. This opens a direct-reply snap.

Users can then point their rear-facing camera in an area of their choice and tap the screen to unlock the Friendmoji lenses in the lens carousel.

They can then place Bitmojis on the surface and the Friendmoji animation can be directed by moving or walking around the 3D experience.

When the animation is done users can send their creations to other friends or post them on their Story.

Snapchat isn’t the only social media platform tapping into personalized emoji.

Earlier this week, Apple launched ‘Memojis’, which lets users create their own personalized 3D emoji.

Apple first introduced Animoji with the iPhone X, the only device it works for due to the front-facing True Depth camera.

Originally limited to few character options such as a cat, unicorn, or a poop, the company has now expanded the feature in iOS 12.

The new ‘memoji’ was allows people to make animated versions of themselves from within the Messages app.
